After the Christian reconquest in 1249, the Arab fortress was adapted to Castle. In the 18th century, after some adaptations to the space, the Kingdom of Algarve Artillery Regiment was installed. During the centuries in which it had a military role, its privileged location next to the Ria Formosa was fundamental in the defense of the city. The Castle loses its military functions and the Army alienates the building in 1904. Here began to emerge rope, carpentry, blacksmith and metalwork workshops and a distillery factory. Between 1968 and 1992, the Fábrica da Cerveja was partly occupied by Cervisul - a beer company, and partly by the Faro Infantry Regiment. Currently, the building belongs to the Municipality of Faro and hosts several cultural and artistic activities. In 2014, the Faro Musicians' Recreational and Cultural Association moved to a part of the building. Being an imposing building located in the old town, at its top it is possible to have a 365-degree view over Faro.

For more than 60 years now Antwerp Management School is building on its social responsibility to create leadership talent that can transform the world. This mindset was translated into the new campus Boogkeers, a sustainable building with respect for its historic value in the middle of Antwerp that opened in 2018. Antwerp based agencies HUB architects and Garden Architects Bart & Pieter integrated a beautiful rooftop garden into the campus.

Laia's best anecdote on a rooftop is the day she played with her band, The Crab Apples, on the night the pyrotechnic-musical show of La Mercč (Barcelona's main festivity). She remembers a very specific moment during the concert when the firework show began and suddenly people turned their attention away from them to see what was going on in the background. Curious to know what was happening they also turned and watched as they almost had the fireworks above them. They remember that concert with great affection.

Everybody in the Netherlands knows Bijenkorf. The luxury department store has had a location in Rotterdam since 1930 and was rehoused to this iconic building in 1956. The company is historically very socially and culturally involved; it was the company's director that donated the iconic statue 'The Destroyed City' commemorating the WW2 bombing and the effect it had on Rotterdam. The flat rooftop has no permanent public function, but was used extensively during festival Rotterdamse Dakendagen, to show the potential of rooftops. It was host to (among other things) a sculpture garden, a lavender field and a zipline over the Coolsingel connecting the rooftop to the WTC Rotterdam.

The best story Quim has on a rooftop is when he premiered "La Llista" on Terrats en Cultura. To begin with, he fondly remembers that their dressing room was the home of one of the neighbors in the building, a very attentive lady who left the door of her house open for them to enter freely. On the roof he remembers a team meeting before starting where everyone was around him and listening to him, with a lot of predisposition, about what he was going to do that evening, he remembers a lot the energy of the Coincidčncies' team and how they accompanied him throughout the process. It also came to his mind how many familiar faces attended the show and it made him think that nowhere else would allow them to cross but the rooftop. He remembers with grace how entertaining it was to rehearse with Carme from different buildings and that to communicate they had to shout from one rooftop to another.

As a host of the Terrats en Cultura, Santi has an anecdote for every year. He would highlight two: the first was the entrance and exit of the play "Si tinguéssim més coca et demostraria com t'estimo" which sought to simulate a robbery. In those days, the roftop could only be accessed by a small ladder or by jumping from the rooftop to a lower roof. The director of the play, looking for the best way to stage the escape almost broke a leg. The second anecdote is the year of "Rita" when they had the house completely under construction: no floor, no windows, half-finished walls... and between the first and second day of the show, a flood fell. Seeing in photos how it turned out to be a beautiful theatre set, they were amazed at how the Coincidences team managed to make it look so fantastic.

And while she was cooking the fish stew, Juan Carlos interacted by dancing with the food, for example, putting a wood table on the ground and a cloth on top of the garlic to chop them directly with his feet. And in the end, which was wonderful, all the spectators ate that dish cooked with fish and he has in his memory the picture of all of them poured and eating straight from the casserole.

It was built next to a medieval watchtower and most likely dates back to the second half of the 15th century. In the 16th century, it underwent some renovations and the lower part of the watchtower came to be used as a chancel. The 1755 earthquake damaged this temple, and interventions were carried out: the reconstruction of the pediment of the main façade and the opening of 4 windows. It is worth noting the artistic heritage that is found inside, as well as the spectacular view over the city, provided by the medieval tower. The Ermida de Santo António do Alto is located in an elevated place from where you can see the sea, the city and the mountains. The strategic importance of this hill allowed the control of the ports and defense of the city, from prehistoric times, through Roman times and especially in the medieval and modern times.

Built on the site where there was a Roman Temple, a Visigothic Church and a Mosque, it is a building of medieval origin that reports to the parish church of Santa Maria, built in 1251. In 1596 it was set on fire and sacked by Count Essex's English troops. Throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, the Sé Church was enriched with various works of gilded woodcarving and tile panels, with an emphasis on the Baroque organ built in Lisbon, around 1715. The damage caused in the earthquakes of 1722 and 1755 forced the carrying out of several construction campaigns. In addition to their various religious functions, bells were used to signal the hours and important moments in the life of the city and the country. Warning signals were emitted from the bell tower in case of fire, natural catastrophes and possible invasions. From the top of the unfinished medieval bell tower, we have an unobstructed view over the Ria Formosa, its islands and the city.
